Intra-Afghan peace talks delayed
Intra-Afghan peace talks that were expected to begin in Doha tomorrow (Sunday) has been postponed indefinitely, a member of the government's negotiating said on Saturday.
Ghulam Farooq Majroh, a member of the negotiating team, however, told 1TV that the team would travel to Doha next week.
Abdul Hafiz Mansoor, another member of the negotiating team, said that the talks were postponed due to the Taliban’s refusal to free soldiers the government is demanding.
Last month, the Taliban said that it had completed release of 1,000 government prisoners as part of its agreement with the United States.
The government said that the releases did not happen based on the list given to the Taliban.
The government has said that it has released 4,680 Taliban prisoners based on the group’s given list of 5,000 prisoners.
