After 15 Years, State-Owned Bread Factory Revived in Afghanistan
The state-owned Herat Silo bread factory has been resurrected and is once again in operation. The Herat Silo Enterprise announced.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, The Afghanistan National Television, Afghanistan’s state media, aired Herat Silo’s inauguration on Monday, November 14.

The Balkh province’s bread-baking division of Balkh silo was recently reopened after 25 years of suspension.

With the activation of Balkh Silo, which will create employment opportunities for up to 300 people, 50 women will be employed, according to Jawid Sediqi, head of Balkh Silo.

After the bread factory was put into operation, according to Sediqi, it was agreed that the Balkh Silo bread would be sent to the hospitals in the Balkh province as well as the Taliban 209 Al-Fath Corps.

In spite of Afghanistan’s rising unemployment rate, the 5 state-owned bread factories across the country would presumably employ at least 5,000 workers, according to the head of Central Kabul Silo.

The then-Soviet Union founded the Herat Silo in 1983. This bread factory produced bread for both military and public sectors up until 1996.
