Ukraine claimed that Russia recruited African prisoners
Ukraine has claimed that Russia uses its African prisoners as soldiers in the country's battlefields. This claim was made after the body of a black man who should have been serving time in Russian prisons was found in Ukraine.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Kiev made this claim after finding the body of a black soldier of the Russian army. The Ukrainian government says the man is a Zambian student who was serving time in a prison near Moscow.

Oleg Niuklenko, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, wrote on his Twitter page: "Putin sends imprisoned African citizens to the battle fronts in Ukraine."

In his tweet, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the Kremlin and said that "African citizens should not become victims of Putin's spiteful games and ambitions."

On Monday, the Zambian government confirmed the death of Lamkhani Nathan Nirendia, a 23-year-old student in Ukraine.

The Zambian diplomatic agency announced that this student was serving a sentence in Russian prisons and it is not known how he died in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Zambia has asked Moscow for an explanation.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia responded to "Raya Novosti" of the Russian news agency and said: "We are investigating this matter and will make it clear soon."

According to some Ukrainian media, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner militia, which is one of Moscow's military arms in Africa, has sent many Russian prisoners into the army and sent them to the war fronts in exchange for high salaries and reduced sentences.

Lamkhani Natan Nirendia, who is a student of nuclear engineering in Moscow, was serving a 9-year sentence in one of the Moscow suburbs prisons for an undisclosed charge.
