Statistics of three and a half million addicts; The treatment process continues
During his trip to Herat province, the Deputy Minister of Narcotics Control in the Ministry of Interior said: "Currently, there are three and a half million drug addicts in the country, and the process of treating addicts is ongoing."
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Abdul Haq Akhund, Deputy Minister of Narcotics Control of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, said in a press conference in Herat on Thursday, February 16: There are currently three million and five hundred thousand drug addicts in the country, of which There are only six thousand addicts in Kabul, most of whom are being treated in the country.
 
According to him, in fact, three million and five hundred thousand families throughout Afghanistan are struggling with this problem, so it is necessary to pay serious attention to this matter.
 
Mr. Akhund also stated: According to the order of "Amir al-Momineen", drugs should not be cultivated in the country and if found, the violators will be dealt with legally and will be introduced to judicial and judicial departments.
 
In this meeting, he asked the scholars to inform the people more about the harm and haram of this cultivation.
 
The Minister of Narcotics Control of the Ministry of Interior also added: The government of the Islamic Emirate is serious about treating drug addicts in the country, to the extent that it has decided to use the profits of one of Afghanistan's mines to treat drug addicts if possible.
 
Meanwhile, Herat Governor Sheikh Noor Ahmad Islam Jar also promised the central officials in this meeting that not a single opium plant will be cultivated in this province and the forces of the Islamic Emirate will not allow the cultivation of narcotics in any way.
 
He added: No matter how much drugs are produced in the country, they will be consumed again to make the youth of this country addicted and will not go outside the country.
 
The governor of Herat pointed out that the cultivation of narcotic drugs in the past few years has damaged the political status of this country at the international level and has also faced serious challenges in Afghanistan from an economic point of view.
 
In the continuation of his speech, Sheikh Islam Jar stated: The number of drug addicts in this province reaches 4,600 people in the city alone, without considering the districts.
 
Mahboob, one of the participants in this program and a resident of one of the Herat districts, asked the central officials and Herat local administration to collect drug addicts from the district level as well.
 
He said: "The number of drug addicts is also high in the districts and serious attention should be paid to this issue."
 
Not long ago, the officials of Herat Municipality and Anti-Narcotics Department started collecting drug addicts from the city level in an unprecedented action, and now the number of drug addicts in the city level has decreased significantly.
