India tested a supersonic missile
The Indian Navy successfully launched the BrahMos medium-range supersonic cruise missile in the Arabian Sea.
​​​​Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The spokesperson of the Indian Navy wrote in a Twitter message on Sunday night (March 5): "The launched Brahmos missile with a new self-reliance design strengthens the successful precision attack of the Indian Navy in the Arabian Sea.
 
BrahMos rocket flies at Mach 2.8 or almost three times the speed of sound.
 
The anti-ship version of the hypersonic cruise missile was successfully tested jointly by the Indian Navy and the Andaman and Nicobar Command in April last year.
 
India also exports BrahMos missiles, last year signing a $375 million deal with the Philippines to supply three batteries of the missile.
 
Brahmos Aerospace Corporation is a Russian-Indian company that produces hypersonic cruise missiles capable of being launched from submarines, ships, aircraft or land-based platforms.
 
This company was established in 1998 and its name was taken from the Brahmaputra and Moscow rivers.
