Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Yemen, Mohammad Al-Jaber, said yesterday evening (Monday, April 10) that he traveled to Sana'a with a delegation from Oman in order to extend the ceasefire in Yemen.
Al-Jaber, who is present in Sana'a, emphasized: "We are working towards the exchange of prisoners and examining the dialogue between the Yemenis and we are working to achieve a permanent political solution in Yemen."
Saudi Arabia, at the head of a coalition of Arab countries led by the United States, launched an all-out attack against the Yemeni nation in March 2014, but now, after nine years have passed and without achieving tangible results, it is sitting at the negotiating table with the Yemeni officials.
According to "Al-Khalij Online" news site, Riyadh's ambassador stated that Saudi Arabia has supported the government and people of Yemen in the most difficult crises and claimed: "We are working to restore security, stability and economic prosperity in Yemen."
In this regard, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Foreign Minister of the Yemeni Presidential Council, who is affiliated to Riyadh, said yesterday that direct negotiations are underway between Riyadh and the National Salvation Government of Yemen to restore the ceasefire.
He said: "Saudi Arabia's efforts facilitate the presence of Yemenis at the negotiating table and there are positive signs in this regard."
Two days ago, the Saudi and Omani delegations arrived in this city to talk with Mehdi Al-Mashat, the head of the Supreme Political Council of Sana'a government.
The Saudi and Omani delegations will discuss with Al-Mashat about lifting the blockade with all its effects, stopping the aggression and restoring the rights of the Yemeni people, including paying the salaries of government employees from oil and gas revenues.
"Mohammed Al-Bakhiti", a member of Ansarullah's political bureau, says: "It is too early to be sure that the negotiations that are taking place in Sana'a will be successful, but it is clear that the atmosphere of peace has prevailed in the region and it creates optimism and hope."
