Afghanistan: At least 42 people killed, 54 others injured due to natural disasters in past month
The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) reported that, at least 42 people were killed and 54 injured in 13 provinces of Afghanistan due to the natural disaster over the previous month.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, Shafiullah Rahimi, a spokesman for the ministry, stated in a video that during this time, 341 residential houses were entirely or partially destroyed, 19,573 acres of agricultural land were destroyed, and 1,354 cattle were lost in these regions, mainly due to flash floods.
 
The incidents occurred in the provinces of Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Takhar, Badakhshan, Ghor, Kandahar, Kunar, Nuristan, Laghman, Paktia, Khost, Daikundi, and Nangarhar, Rahimi said.
 
Afghanistan is a natural disaster-prone country, including earthquakes, flooding, landslide, freezing winters and avalanches.
 
Over the past year, natural disasters have left over 1,000 people dead, and over 2,000 were injured across the country during the solar year 91401), Disaster management ministry officials said.
 
According to the report, at least 70 people died from cold weather in January. Over 70,000 cattle have perished in the Baghlan, Sare-ePul, Frayab, Takhar, Kandahar, Nimroz and Badghis provinces.
