According to local sources, a local entrepreneur has launched online taxi services in Kandahar for the first time.

Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Samiullah Payegham, a local resident has started providing online cab services in Kandahar province, a new initiative of its kind that has not been experienced in the province thus far.
Mr. Payegham said that although the majority of people in Afghanistan are not familiar with the use of technology, there is still a business opportunity, as no online taxi service providers operated in the province before.
Previously, there used to be several online taxi service providers in Kabul and other major cities of Afghanistan. “Bubar” was a familiar name to many people who used online taxis.
The new online taxi service provider “Sayar” which translates as “mobile” is freshly launched in Kandahar province and possibly will take some time for users to get familiar with the technology and all.
Based on previous constraints including internet issues, security challenges and lack of people’s knowledge, Sayar needs to be patient and see whether the project would be successful.
