The police commander of Shulgara district of Balkh province says that the police forces have cleared more than 300 acres of land from opium and marijuana cultivation in this district.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif city: Maulavi Mohammad Khan Fateh, police commander of Shulgara district of Balkh province, told AVA that they have cleared more than 300 acres of land from opium and marijuana cultivation.

He added: According to the order of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate government, police forces and Mujahedeen fought against the cultivation of drugs in all parts of this district because the plague of drugs endangers the health of the society.

Abbas, one of the farmers of Shulgara district, says that with the arrival of the Islamic Emirate government in Afghanistan, drug cultivation has been destroyed in this district, but he adds that the price of seed fertilizer and chemical fertilizers has increased.

He added that the government should provide all-round support to the farmers, otherwise the farmers will have to plant poppy or give up farming, which in both cases will be detrimental to the government and the people.

This resident of Shulgara also named the lack of rain as one of the important factors in reducing the yield and asked for the government's help with the farmers.

It should be mentioned that hundreds of tons of narcotics were cultivated and produced annually in Shulgara district of Balkh province before the rule of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan.
