Pakistan announced public mourning
Following the incident last Wednesday in which a refugee boat sank in Greek waters and 298 Pakistani refugees drowned, the government of Islamabad announced public mourning in this country on Monday.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): On the other hand, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered the immediate crackdown on agents involved in human trafficking and said that they will be severely punished. The Prime Minister's Office of Pakistan said in a statement: "The Prime Minister has given a firm order to intensify efforts to combat those who are complicit in the heinous crime of human trafficking."

According to this report, every year thousands of young Pakistanis enter Europe illegally in search of a better life. A combination of political turmoil and an economy on the brink of collapse is driving tens of thousands of Pakistanis to leave the country legally and illegally.

Southern European countries with wide beaches are always the first destination for immigrants who wish to reach Europe. Most of these migrants reach Greece, Spain, Italy and Cyprus by boat and on the dangerous routes of human traffickers in the sea from the coast of Turkey or from the islands near Greece or through the North Mediterranean.

Among the passengers of the ship that sank last Wednesday near the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, hundreds of people are still missing. According to reports, this boat had at least 700 passengers. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced that 12 citizens of this country survived the incident.
