Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, said at a ceremony celebrating World Heart Day that two thousand people have died due to heart disease in the country in the past one year, according to them. Every year, up to six thousand people suffer from heart diseases in the country.
According to his statements, from March 2022 to October 2023, more than 6,000 people have contracted this disease and 2,000 people have died across the country.
The spokesperson of the ministry has emphasized that in the past year, 26,946 people with heart disease have come to us, and these patients have been provided with in- and out-patient services. Others were infected and lost their lives.
At the same time, Heydar Khan Heydar, the general director of preventive medicine of the Ministry of Public Health, also said in this ceremony that the main causes of cardiovascular diseases are smoking, alcohol, unhealthy diet, inactivity, and in people in the form of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and overweight.
The General Director of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health added: "Unfortunately, in our society, people use a lot of oil and salt, and we still do not exercise alongside it."
Also, Abdul Wahid Saddiqi, the head of the Afghan Cardiovascular Doctors Association, says: "Keeping the heart healthy is not a one-day job, but requires a long-term commitment." Our message is clear; Eat a balanced diet, be active and take care, and let's still prefer drinking water over other soft drinks.
World Heart Day is celebrated in Afghanistan while this disease has increased all over the world and 20 million people die from this disease every year, and to prevent this disease, using vegetables and fruits can be useful.
