The total cost of this project, which will bring electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan, is estimated at more than one billion US dollars, and the necessary credits are provided by the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. is allocated
The project is expected to develop the necessary physical infrastructure and establish the institutional and legal framework for the transfer of surplus electricity from existing facilities in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The physical infrastructure of CASA-1000 includes: 500 kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system between Tajikistan and Pakistan through Afghanistan, a transmission link from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to connect to the transmission line from Tajikistan to South Asia and construction of power substations. It is required in Kabul (Afghanistan), Peshawar (Pakistan) and Sangtuda (Tajikistan).
According to the implementation unit of this project in Tajikistan, the total length of electricity transmission lines in Tajikistan is 289 km, in Afghanistan is 570 km, in Kyrgyzstan is 450 km, and a small part of it is in Pakistan.
