India's approach to Afghanistan is based on historical relations and friendship with the people

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Yesterday, India's Foreign Minister SG Shankar said in the country's parliament that India's approach towards Afghanistan has been continuously formed based on historical relations, friendship with its people and adherence to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

The Indian Foreign Minister has pointed out that in the last two years, some Afghan diplomats have left India due to obtaining residency in third countries. However, the remaining diplomats have assumed responsibility for the continued functioning of diplomatic missions in India.

He added: Afghanistan's diplomatic presence in New Delhi and Afghanistan's consulates in Mumbai and Hyderabad in India continue to operate.

Despite the announcement of the closure of the Afghan embassy in New Delhi by the ambassador, referring to the challenges of the Indian government, Jaishankar clarified that this issue is more related to the internal power struggle and the departure of diplomats who seek asylum in the West.

Emphasizing India's humanitarian efforts, current aid to Afghanistan and sending numerous shipments of wheat, medical aid and help to the earthquake victims, the Indian Foreign Minister has said: India has decided to help the people of Afghanistan by providing humanitarian aid.

He also emphasized the historical relations between India and Afghanistan and by mentioning more than 500 development projects in vital sectors, he highlighted the sustainable partnership between the two countries.
