Azerbaijan to Open Embassy in Kabul Next Year
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially revealed its plans to reopen its embassy in Afghanistan in 2024.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, Azerbaijani media outlet Report covered the news on Friday, citing the press office of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry. The announcement came as a formal statement highlighting the ministry’s commitment to reopening the embassy, which is expected to foster closer ties and cooperation.

As of now, further details regarding the exact timing of the embassy’s activation have not been disclosed. This leaves room for speculation on the operational aspects and the broader diplomatic strategy Azerbaijan might employ in Afghanistan.

According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, President Ilham Aliyev appointed Elham Nariman oglu Mammadov as the ambassador to Afghanistan on July 28, 2021. This appointment underscores the importance Azerbaijan places on its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan.

The decision to open the Azerbaijani embassy was previously suspended following the rise to power of the Islamic Emirate administration. This delay indicates the sensitive nature of diplomatic engagements in the region, influenced by changing political landscapes.

So far, the IEA regime has not commented on the reopening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Afghanistan.
