A snow leopard attack on a livestock shelter in Badakhshan
The head of information and culture of Badakhshan province says that last night (1st of April) a snow leopard attacked a livestock shelter in Zibak district of this province and tore 30 goats and sheep.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-Sharif: Zabihullah Amiri, the head of information and culture of Badakhshan province, says that last night (1st April), a snow leopard attacked the cattle farm of "Qotan", a resident of Zibak district of Badakhshan province, and 30 goats and sheep.

He added that this snow leopard was trapped by the officials of Zibak district of Badakhshan province in a standardized way and without any injuries and was transferred to the center of this province to be released again in a safe environment.

Amiri stated that Wakhan and Zibak districts of Badakhshan province are the habitat of snow leopards and most domestic and foreign tourists come to Badakhshan province and travel in these areas to see this rare species of "snow leopard".

He stated that the snow leopard species is on the verge of extinction in the world and the habitat of this animal in Afghanistan is bordered by China, Pakistan and Tajikistan and the government officials are trying to create a safe environment for the snow leopard breed in the country.

It should be noted that the snow leopard attack on livestock in Zibak and Wakhan districts of Badakhshan province is observed every now and then. Not long ago, a snow leopard tore 18 goats and sheep in Wakhan.
