After the Egyptian government decides how to best go about repairing these historical treasures, the historians will conduct an assessment then set about the practical phase of making repairs.

"The most important historical treasures will be given priority after the completion of the surveys," Dr Ahmad, an Egyptian historian, said.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Information and Culture of Ghazni province welcomed the decision and asked for further assistance from Islamic countries.

Ghazni is to be an Islamic City of Culture in 2013.
The civil war has caused several historical monuments and treasures in the province to be partly or completely destroyed,Khama News reported.

Many historical treasures have also been stolen and smuggled out of the country.
