US assassination drone kills eight in eastern Yemen
At least eight people have been killed in a US assassination drone attack in the eastern Yemeni province of Shabwa, according to a tribal chief.
The victims were on board a vehicle on their way from Shabwa to Marib province when a US drone fired a missile targeting their vehicle, the source told AFP on Sunday.

Last month, a study by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism showed that the United States has intensified its attacks in Yemen over the past year.

The UK-based group also stated that the US has carried out as many as 44 attacks in Yemen, up to 34 of them since May 2011.

The majority of the attacks were carried out by CIA operatives and US Special Forces command, operating from a base in nearby Dijbouti.

The US military uses assassination drones in several Muslim countries, including Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan.

Washington claims the airstrikes target militants, but the attacks have mostly led to civilian casualties.
