1 NATO solider killed in insurgent attack in S. Afghanistan
One soldier with the NATO-led coalition or International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in an insurgent attack in restive southern Afghanistan on Sunday.

"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan today." the ISAF said in a statement.

The brief statement disclosed neither the nationality of the victim nor the details about the incident under the ISAF policy.

Troops mainly from U.S., Britain and Australia have been stationed in the southern region within the framework of ISAF to curb Taliban-linked insurgency there.

The Taliban insurgents stepped up their attacks on Afghan and NATO-led troops since a spring offensive was launched in May in the war-ravaged country.

Sunday's casualty brings to six the number of NATO soldiers who have been killed in Afghanistan since Saturday morning.

Four French soldiers with the coalition were killed and eight others including three Afghan civilians were injured in a Taliban suicide bombing in eastern Kapisa province on Saturday.

Another ISAF soldier lost his live in roadside bomb blast also in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday morning.

A total of 193 foreign soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan so far this year.(Xinhua)
