U.S. soldier killed, six others injured after helicopter crash in Afghanistan

AVA- Six other U.S. crew members were injured in the crash, according to a statement from NATO mission in Afghanistan.

While Taliban claimed shooting down the aircraft, Resolute Support, however, said that the crash was not the result of enemy action.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our comrade,” John Nicholson, RS commander said. “On behalf of all of Resolute Support, our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and friends of our fallen comrade and those injured in this unfortunate event.”

According to provincial Afghan officials, the helicopter made an emergency landing and it hit a tree during take-off. It said that the incident happened following an operation in Kharwar district of the province.
