The Jamiat-e-Islami party reacted at the remarks of the officials of the Independent Directorate of the Local Governance (IDLG) about the implementation of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s orders regarding the Balkh government leadership.

A spokesman of Jamiat-e-Islami zabiullah Fitrat told RFE/RL that decision regarding the Balkh government is an issue between the ARG Presidential Palace and Jamiat-e-Islami party.

He said the Independent Direcrorate of the Local Governance (IDLG) is not having the required authorities to act since the issue is between ARG Palce and Jamiat party.

Firtrat further added that the IDLG may take such steps against the personnel of the directorate but not the Balkh government leadeship.

IDLG spokesperson Munira Yousufzad had earlier said Engineer Mohammad Daud has been appointed as the new governor of Balkh governor after Ata Mohammad Noor’s resignation was approved by the government.

She said efforts are underway for the formal introduction of the new governor of Balkh province and a ceremony will be organized in the near future to him as the new governor of the province.

This comes as the Chief Executive of Jamiat-e-Islami Ata Mohammad Noor had earlier said he will continue to his work as the governor of the province until a final decision has been taken in this regard by the Jamiat party.

Noor admitted that he submitted his resignation but he several demands before stepping down and none of them has been met by the government while his resignation has been approved.
