Pakistan’s army chief confirms death sentences of 11 terrorists
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has confirmed the death sentences of at least eleven terrorists who were sentenced to death over various terrorist attacks that had left hundreds of people dead or wounded.
The Military of Pakistan in a statement said Saturday “Chief of Army Staff confirmed death sentences awarded to 11 hardcore terrorists. Besides, 3 convicts have also been awarded imprisonment.”
The statement further adds “These terrorists were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, i.e. attacking Armed Forces/ Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, Malakand University, destruction of various educational institutions and killing of innocent civilians including Mr Imran Khan Mohmind, a Member of Provincial Assembly (KPK).”
On the whole, they were involved in killing of 60 persons including 36 civilians, 24 Armed Forces/Frontier Constabulary/ Police Officials and injuring 142 others, according to the Media Wing of the military of Pakistan.
“Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession,” the statement said, adding that “These convicts were tried by special military courts.”
