Another senior Pakistani Taliban leader reportedly killed in Kunar province
Another senior leader of the Pakistani Taliban, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, has reportedly been killed in a US drone strike in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.
According to reports, Mullah Omar Rehman Swati, was killed during an airstrike conducted on Tuesday in the vicinity of Shiltan district.
Sources privy of the development have confirmed that Mullah Swati was killed in the airstrike conducted on Tuesday in Shiltan of Kunar province.
The Pakistani Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.
This comes as the Pakistani Taliban supreme leader Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a similar airstrike conducted in Kunar province last month.
A Pakistani Taliban spokesman Mohammad Khurasani confirmed that the former leader of Tehrike-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mullah Fazlullah was killed in a drone strike.
He also added that the leadership of the group has appointed Noor Wali Mehsud as the successor of Mullah Fazlullah to lead the group.
The Afghan and US officials are saying that Mullah Fazlullah was targeted during a drone strike in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on 13th June.
According to reports, Noor Wali Mehsud is one of the close associates of the former Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud.
