ISIS Takfiri Group Kidnaps 12 Demining Staff in Afghanistan
At least 12 demining men were kidnapped by ISIS terrorist group members in Afghanistan''s eastern province of Kunuar, local officials confirmed today.
AVA- The incident occurred last night in the Dara-e-Pech valley of the Nangala district of the province of Nangala, where workers from the Energy Conservation and Rehabilitation Agency in Afghanistan were cleaning an area of improvised explosive devices.
Provincial Governor Ghani Musamim's spokesman said local government officials and tribal elders are in negotiations to free the men, local media reported.
It is estimated that in Afghanistan there are more than 65,000 people with reduced capacities due to mine explosions which have invaded its territory for more than 30 years.
This situation was exacerbated by the exponential growth of violence since the 2001 invasion of the United States and its North Atlantic Organization allies.
According to the Program of Action against Mines, Afghanistan is one of the countries most affected by landmines and explosive remnants of war in the world and this same program said that humanitarian mine action requirements are as great now as they have been since the international intervention in 2001.
