President Ghani appoints Ziaulhaq Amarkhil as his senior advisor
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has appointed Ziaulhaq Amarkhil, a former top election official, as his senior advisor on public and political affairs.
AVA- Amarkhil acted as head of the Independent Election Commission secretariat, a post which he left amid allegations that he organized a fraudulent run-off presidential vote in 2014. Amarkhil had denied the charges.
Amarkhil registered himself as candidate for the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled for October 20. However, he was disqualified by election bodies.
