Pakistan keeps his airspace shut to Afghan flights
Airline companies called on the Afghan government to engage in talks with the Pakistani government to resolve the matter.
AVA- Although some foreign media outlets have reported that Pakistan has reopened its airspace to Afghanistan airliners, but officials from Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority said they have not received any confirmation from the authorities in Pakistan regarding the reopening of Pakistani airspace for Afghan flights.
Airline companies called on the Afghan government to engage in talks with the Pakistani government and resolve the matter in line with the international law and regulations.
The companies and passengers have been facing major hurdles and spending more money after Pakistan barred Afghan airliners to pass through the Pakistani airspace.
“This is not something which is affecting the flights using Afghanistan airspace. Their airspace is closed to all flights passing through,” said Ghulam Masoom Masoom, acting Head of Air Traffic Services Directorate at Civil Aviation Authority.
A month ago, an Afghan airliner en route to India was barred from crossing Pakistan’s airspace and was forced to return to Kabul.
Afghanistan’s Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organization at the time said that they were working to find a new route for flights between Afghanistan and India, he said.
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority last month said it has shut its airspace to all commercial flights as military tensions with India escalates.
Currently Afghan airliners are using Iranian space and get to the destinations in India through the Ocean which cost them much money.
