Postponement of presidential vote results ‘alarming and suspicious’: TEFA
The Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) has called the postponement preliminary election results as ‘alarming and suspicious’.

According to a statement released by TEFA, the Independent Election Commission had prepared plan for 9 million people to cast vote in presidential elections.
However, TEFA said the turnout of voters has been recorded at least two million people.
The statement further added that the findings of the foundation show that the vote results were delayed due to political pressures and weakness in administration of the election commission to manage its programs.
Furthermore, TEFA warned that the situation could jeopardize the final outcome of the elections, further increase doubts and uncertainty regarding the transparency of process and pave the way for the electoral teams not to accept the election result.
TEFA also added that the situation will further strengthen the distrust among the people regarding elections process.
Meanwhile, TEFA said it asks the independent election commissions to clarify the documented reasons which led to a delay in announcing the preliminary election result and take its programs forward according to their planned schedule.
