President Ghani appoints Arghandewal as acting minister of finance
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has appointed Abdul Hadi Arghandewal as the designate and acting minister of finance.
A former minister of economy under Hamid Karzai, Arghandewal will act as acting of finance ministry before his confirmation by the parliament.
This is first nomination for a minister post after inauguration of President Ghani’s second term three weeks ago.
Waheed Omer, a presidential adviser, said that the process of naming the cabinet was underway and the nominees will be introduced to the parliament once it is completed.
According to another report, based on a presidential decree, Mohammad Shakir Kargar was appointed as the Chief of Staff for the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Mohammad Shakir Kargar is a prominent politician who, since 2001, has worked in various high-profile capacities namely vice-chairman of the Interim Administration, minister of Commerce and Industries, Faryab representative in the House of People, and President’s special representative on Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
