Officials of the Commission for Handling Natural Disasters say that the floods in the last one month have affected more than one million citizens of the country.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Officials of the Commission for Handling Natural Disasters shared with the media the latest statistics of casualties and damages caused by recent floods in 21 provinces at a press conference in Kabul on Saturday evening (August 27).
Mawlavi Sharafuddin Muslim, the deputy minister of the government for disaster management and the head of this commission said that in the last month, 21 provinces have been damaged by floods.
Muslim added that as a result of the floods, 194 people were martyred, 260 people were injured, more than 12,000 houses were partially or completely destroyed, and more than 9,000 livestock were lost.
Based on the statements of the Deputy Minister of Natural Disasters, the floods have affected more than one million citizens of the country, and this number of people are in serious need of urgent assistance and basic measures.
He also said that the aid of 82 relief organizations was distributed in a timely and transparent manner to the families affected by the recent natural disasters.
Mawlavi Ataullah Omari, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, also said in this press conference that due to recent floods, about 600,000 acres of agricultural land, nearly two million productive trees and about two million non-productive trees have been destroyed. Also, nearly 30,000 sheep and goats and about 10,000 cattle have been lost.
Mawlavi Abdul Latif Mansour, Acting Minister of Energy and Water, also said in this meeting that in the course of one month, 441 water dams, 329 local dams, 750 dams, 22 engineering dams and 650 meters of retaining wall have been destroyed due to the recent floods in the country.
Meanwhile, Dr. Qalandar Ebad, Acting Minister of Public Health, said that with the recent earthquakes in Paktika and Khost and recent floods in 21 provinces, the emergency teams of this ministry, including male and female doctors, have reached the place with facilities.
The members of the aforementioned commission emphasized that the leadership and officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will use every possibility to manage the situation; But according to the officials, the current facilities are not enough and they asked the international community, the United Nations, donor countries and charitable organizations to cooperate with the Islamic Emirate in all aspects to address the situation of the victims.
