Asylum seekers crossing the English Channel/ England and France increased security measures
British newspapers have reported that the British and French governments have reached an agreement to prevent migrants from crossing the English Channel. It has been said that based on this agreement, France will deploy more forces to control migrants and prevent them from crossing the English Channel, and the two countries will also use reconnaissance drones.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): British media reported on Sunday that London and Paris are on the verge of reaching an agreement to deal with the crossing of the English Channel by illegal immigrants, and this agreement is expected to be finalized on Monday, November 14.

The "Daily Telegraph" newspaper wrote that this agreement will significantly increase the number of French agents and volunteers working on the shores of the English Channel to prevent migrants from leaving the country's shores for England.

It is said that within the framework of this agreement, a joint control center will be formed with the cooperation of France. British immigration officials are supposed to be stationed in this center.

The British newspaper "Express" also reported that more British drones are going to be used to identify migrants who are hiding in the sand dunes and are trying to find an opportunity to cross this dangerous sea passage.

According to the report of this newspaper, the British authorities hope that this agreement will be finalized and implemented quickly due to the close relations between Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Two days ago, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, issued a joint statement and emphasized the urgency of dealing with all forms of illegal immigration. They also expressed hope that the negotiations aimed at combating the lucrative and dangerous business of human trafficking would come to fruition.

Britain's effort to finalize this agreement comes at a time when many critics of the country's government say that London should open more legal ways for people to come to this country instead.

Illegal immigration is currently one of the hot topics on the British political scene, and Rishi Sunak, the country's new prime minister, is under pressure to find a solution.

In recent weeks, British authorities have repeatedly been criticized for overcrowding and poor living conditions in refugee accommodation centers. The UK government is also grappling with a lack of emergency accommodation facilities and the cost to taxpayers.

The surge in asylum applications from migrants and the rise in accommodation costs, estimated by the UK government at "€8 million a day", has strained local services and sparked public anger.

Accordingly, two weeks ago, a person described by the British police as having extreme right-wing beliefs threw several firebombs at a reception center for asylum seekers in the port of Dover in the south of England, injuring several people.

Last year, Britain announced an agreement with the African country (Rwanda) to transfer illegal immigrants to that country, but the resistance of human rights groups and the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights prevented the implementation of this plan.

According to the report of the British government, 40,885 illegal immigrants crossed the English Channel this year alone, which is a new record. More than half of these people are Albanians, followed by Afghans and Iranians.

This figure was 28 thousand 561 people last year and 8 thousand 404 people in 2020 and the reason for the increase of such migrations is the increase of illegal crossings designed with the help of smugglers to transport migrants.

According to the British government, on Saturday alone, 22 boats carrying about 972 illegal immigrants were detected.

The problem of immigration in European countries is one of the important issues that the political and electoral contests of many of these countries have been affected by this issue.
