The campaign of complementary vaccination and tuberculosis diagnosis of citizens is implemented in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences
The supplementary vaccination campaign and tuberculosis diagnosis for non-Iranian citizens and immigrants will be implemented simultaneously in Mashhad University of Medical Sciences from December 30.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mashhad: According to the public relations report of the Provincial Health Center/Khorasan Razavi Province; Dr. Sayed Javad Hussaini, Vice President of Health of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, emphasizing the importance of implementing this campaign, said: Following the large outbreak of measles in Afghanistan this year, cases of measles have spread to Iran and so far, 204 people have been infected.
 
Dr. Sayed Javad Hussaini, referring to the studies conducted in recent years, stated: the low vaccination coverage of non-Iranian children compared to Iranian children, as well as the weak vaccination coverage in neighboring countries, is the reason why this group is high-risk in terms of the outbreak of vaccine-preventable diseases. Special for measles and polio.
 
Dr. Hussaini further stated that in the first phase of this campaign, it is planned to vaccinate non-Iranian children under 15 years of age and added: due to the high incidence of tuberculosis among non-Iranian citizens, in the second phase of the campaign, which will be implemented from December/February of this year Tuberculosis screening for non-Iranian citizens over 12 years of age is carried out for 2 months.
 
  The Vice President of Health of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences stated that the main goal of this program is to preserve the health of the society by securing non-Iranian nationals and identifying them as a high-risk group, and said: The Islamic Republic of Iran, due to its special geographical location, has received a large number of people during the past fourteen decades. He is one of the immigrants and refugees of other countries, especially the neighboring country of Afghanistan, and according to the reports received in recent years, there have been cases of migration of citizens of Pakistan and Iraq.
