Afghan Swimmer Wins Gold, Silver in US
at an international competition held in the US, paralympian Afghan- American swimmer Abbas Karimi won the gold medal for the 50m butterfly and a silver medal in the 50m backstroke.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, Just over a year ago Karimi won his first world series gold as an American citizen, and Karimi, a native of Afghanistan, picked up his second title with the top finish in the men’s 50m butterfly. Karimi currently trains at the University of Miami with a goal to compete and win at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris next year, the Team USA website said.
 
“I’m happy,” said Karimi. “If I could make any changes, I would come with a better strategy, a better plan – which I am going to do… make a new plan and come back stronger and faster. During the race, I had to focus more and then keep going fast and ‘keep going fast’ is what I was telling myself.” 
 
Karimi is expected to participate in a swimming competition in Manchester in England in three months.  
 
The disabled Afghan swimmer, who is currently living in the US, has won many medals in various swimming competitions.
