Asif Durrani, the former ambassador of Pakistan to Iran, was appointed as Islamabad
Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has appointed Asif Ali Khan Durrani to the position of Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan affairs through a decree issued by the country's cabinet.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Asif Ali Khan Durrani", the former ambassador of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, was appointed as the new special representative of the government of Islamabad for Afghanistan affairs.
 
The Pakistani Embassy in Kabul has confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Asif Ali Khan Durrani as Pakistan's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, according to a decree issued by the government of Pakistan.
 
In his last official mission, Asif Durrani served as Pakistan's ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran from 2015 to 2017 and then retired.
 
He has also worked as the ambassador of this country in the United Arab Emirates, the deputy of the Pakistani embassy in Tehran and the deputy of the Pakistani embassy in Afghanistan during his 30 years of work experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
 
It should be mentioned that Mohammad Sadiq, the former special representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan affairs, resigned from his position in the beginning of last year after three years of responsibility.
