Domestic Drugs, Medicines Expo in Afghanistan

630 different types of domestic drugs and medicines are currently produced in Afghanistan. The Head of the National Food and Drug Authority said.

He urged domestic and foreign investors to invest in the drug production sector in Afghanistan. Furthermore, the official stressed boosting domestic medicines production in the country and asked.

Officials also warned companies against importing illegal and low-quality drugs and medications into the country, which will harm local investors.

According to the official, almost 70% of drug smuggling in the country has been stopped. However, 30% is still going on, which will also be discontinued soon.

According to the representative of the Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Companies, they are stated that 810 different types of medications are now produced domestically with investments totalling 320 million dollars.

A representative from a pharmaceutical company said that even though Afghanistan produces 15% of its medications and 5,000 people work in pharmaceutical companies, the low-quality imported drugs have disrupted the market.

The exhibition would last for at least three days and featured 630 pharmaceutical and medicine products in 44 booths.
