Joe Biden: I will not facilitate Ukraine
The President of the United States, Joe Biden, answered in the negative when asked by reporters whether he would take a step to facilitate Ukraine's membership in NATO.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Joe Biden, who was on his way to Philadelphia on Saturday to join his first election campaign, clarified in a conversation with reporters: "No, because they must follow the same standards. So I do not facilitate this way for them.

Previously, there were reports that Mr. Biden and his team had a discussion with other NATO members about the time of Ukraine's membership in this military alliance.

Since 2008, when NATO officially supported Ukraine's desire to join this military alliance at the Bucharest meeting, the country has remained in the waiting room for NATO membership. Now, after Russia's attack on Ukraine, Kiev has been asked to wait longer and no specific date has been given for its NATO membership.

The next meeting of the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization known as NATO is scheduled to be held next month in Vilnius, Lithuania, and it is expected that the members of this treaty will discuss Ukraine's membership in this meeting.

Indeed, NATO members, large and small, are united in their efforts to support Ukraine, both now and in the future, but they are cautious in their commitment to full NATO support in the middle of the war. They fear that if Ukraine becomes a member of NATO, according to Article 5 of this alliance, they will have to actively fight alongside Ukrainian forces. According to this article, NATO considers an attack on one member as an attack on all members and obliges each member country to take up arms and fight to defend the country that has been attacked.

In fact, NATO's reluctance for Ukraine to be a full member of this alliance is mainly due to the fear of Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, and the possibility of bringing tensions to a nuclear attack. It is quite evident and recognizable that the major NATO countries continue to exercise caution in their steps.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said earlier that he understands that his country cannot become a member of NATO as long as it is involved in war.
