Abbas Akhund: Demining Program Should be in Priority
There is an urgent need to prioritize the demining program in Kabul. Acting Minister of State Disaster Management, in a meeting with the director general of the HALO Trust International Mining Services organization, said.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The Minister of State for Disaster Management, Mullah Mohammad Abbas Akhund met with James Michael Kavans, General Manager of the International Mines HALO Trust Service, while the Chief of Staff of the Asian Office organization, the member of the British Parliament, the head of a private bank in the United Kingdom and the head of cohesion, coordination and demining of the ministry were present, discussed demining programs in the country, said in a statement.
 
He termed that the activities of demining organizations are very important and therefore, with the cooperation of other relevant organs, we need to make great efforts to eliminate and clean mines across the country.
 
“There is an urgent need to prioritize the demining program in this province and called for more attention of the organization in this regard,” he added.
 
Later on, James expressed his satisfaction with the good security situation, the elimination of corruption in government offices, and the prevention of poppy cultivation in the country, and congratulated the Islamic Emirate on this success.
 
The head of the HALO Trust organization promised to deliver landmine programs, the needs of people, and humanitarian aid to mine sweepers and the British government.
 
In the meeting, the two sides agreed on further cooperation in the fields of clearing mines and unexploded substances, attracting the attention of the world and relevant authorities in this sector, and further cooperation in providing assistance to the people and promised bilateral cooperation.
