Saffron Development Project in Herat Cost $1.2m
To increase the income of farmers, produce and export companies, and improve the quality of organic and ISO-certified saffron, the Hand by Hand organization has conducted a saffron development project with a cost of 1.2 million USD in Afghanistan.

The saffron growing and production project is financed by Denmark with a cost of 1.2 million USD, and the project will be complete within five years, he said.
 
Meanwhile, local officials Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock officials of Herat say that they support all farmers in the market, mainly saffron farmers.
 
The provincial head of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Herat, Engineer Basir Ahmad Tayeeb, says that the price of saffron has decreased for the lack of saffron exhibitions and markets outside Afghanistan.
 
Tayeb said that the market is a priority for every agricultural product and the current situation of the saffron market in Herat province is the same as last year, but if the market is provided outside the country, the price of this plant will increase.
 
According to reports, about 21 tons of saffron was produced from 7,850 hectares of agricultural land in Herat province last year.
