‘Over 13bn afs distributed to widows, disabled persons last year’
A total of 638,954 individuals, including widows, orphans, and people with disabilities has registered by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, in the past year.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, According to the ministry, among them, there are 150,000 widows and orphans whose family members fought for the Islamic Emirate and 100,000 widows and orphans whose family members fought for the previous government. 
 
The deputy of the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, Abdul Hakim Haqqani, said more than 13 billion Afs have been distributed to people who deserve assistance.
 
“So far, 638,954 disabled people, widows, and orphans have been registered, of which 149,672 are disabled males and 30,777 are disabled females, 371,420 are orphans and 870,87 are widows…,” said Abdul Hakim Haqqani. 
 
According to the ministry, so far electric power has been activated in 18 provinces of the country, and more than 77,000 disabled people, orphans, and widows have been biometrically registered. 
 
Approximately 12,000 individuals initially registered as orphans and widows, along with 7,500 people who had been listed as disabled, were deemed ineligible and were removed from the records. 
 
“The Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs launched a survey of registered widows, orphans, and disabled people of which 12,000 individuals who initially registered as orphans and widows -- along with 7,500 people who had been listed as disabled -- were deemed ineligible, and they have been subsequently removed from the records,” said Abdul Hakim Haqqani. 
 
The financial and administrative head of the Ministry of Martyrs and the Disabled said that last year, out of the 13 billion afghani budget, 9.5 billion Afghani were used. 
 
“Last year, the estimated budget for the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs was 13 and a half billion afghani, as announced by the Ministry of Finance, of which 9 and a half billion Afghanis was spent,” said Kalimullah Afghan, the financial and administrative head of the Ministry of Martyrs and the Disabled. 
 
The Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled more than 150 disabled people, widows, and orphans have been introduced to health centers for treatment, and two hundred more disabled people have been introduced to government offices for employment. 
 
According to the ministry, cash and food aid have been distributed to 150,000 disabled, orphans, and widows in the past year.
