Erdogan: We don't expect anything from the European Union anymore

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated yesterday (Sunday) that Turkey "has no more expectations from the European Union, which has kept us waiting behind its doors for 40 years." .

 

According to AFP, Erdoğan criticized the European Union's policies in opposing Ankara's entry into the union and said: "We fulfilled all the promises we made to the European Union, but they did not fulfill almost any of their promises."

 

He said before the start of the session of the Turkish Parliament after the end of the summer vacation: "I will no longer accept any new demands or conditions regarding the accession process (to the European Union)."

 

Erdogan's anger also stems from last Thursday's ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) that condemned Turkey for issuing a sentence against a teacher in the wake of Turkey's failed 2016 coup for downloading an encrypted messaging app linked to the coup plotters.

 

Turkey accuses a group led by Fethullah Gulen, a critic of Erdogan, of a failed attempt to oust the Turkish president and asserts that the ByLock messaging application was used to coordinate this conspiracy.

 

"The decision of the European Court of Human Rights was the last straw that broke the camel's back," Erdogan said. Türkiye will not stop fighting against this band of traitors.

 

Previously, the European Parliament emphasized in its annual report on September 13 (22 Sabla) that Ankara and Brussels should find other ways to expand their cooperation other than Turkey's joining the European Union, because it is currently possible for Turkey to join the European Union. does not have.
