According to this newsletter, in this meeting, useful and successful discussions were held on issues related to Afghan students in Iran and the process of issuing machine-readable passports, and the Iranian Student Affairs Organization complied with most of the embassy's requests to facilitate the process of accepting students and other cases have given positive answers.
According to the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran, the issues that were discussed with the head of the Iranian Students Affairs Organization are as follows:
- Registering and continuing students' studies in universities without time limits for receiving machine-readable passports; A student can register and continue his studies with his document (passport, identity card and census form.
- The embassy will issue a passport to students who have a certified electronic or paper ID card, after obtaining an employment letter.
- Those who do not have a Tazkira or have it not verified, should wait for the mobile registration team to arrive.
- In the doctoral stage, the duration of continuing education and research can be extended for another two or three semesters.
- There is no discrimination between Iranian and Afghani students in terms of dormitory capacity, everyone will be treated equally according to the space capacity.
- Students who have children can apply for residence for their children.
- A female student can temporarily bring her husband to Iran with a visa.
- Issuance of residence for students in the first stage is for one year and will be extended for three years in the second stage. This plan will be implemented soon.
Meanwhile, many immigrant students in Iran are waiting to receive machine-readable passports, but most of these students do not have ID cards, and on the other hand, the team of the National Statistics, Information and Registration Department has not yet traveled to Tehran.
