World Health Organization: One out of every two Afghans suffers from mental disorders
The World Health Organization (WHO), in its latest annual report on the health situation in Afghanistan, said that one out of every two Afghans is facing mental problems, this organization added that the people of Afghanistan are highly exposed to traumatic events and psychosocial problems.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The World Health Organization published its new report on the country's health situation and said: "One out of every two Afghans suffers from mental disorders, and one out of every five people suffers from mental health problems in their role."
 
According to the findings of this report, until September 30 of this year, 226 thousand 174 positive cases of corona have been registered in the country and so far 7 thousand 948 people have died after contracting this virus.
 
The World Health Organization has predicted that about 17.6 million people, including five million urban dwellers and 12.6 million rural dwellers, need health care in Afghanistan.
 
The report states: "Health services are planned for 3.9 million people in cities and 10.1 million people in villages."
 
Among the 17.6 million people who need health care, 53% of them are children, 44% are adults, and 3% are the elderly.
 
The World Health Organization also said that it has provided 2,250 emergency health packages to address people's health problems for the next three months in the country, which covers 2.2 million people.
 
According to this report, the World Health Organization in cooperation with 51 other organizations has provided health services to about 1.3 million people in Afghanistan through 857 health centers in 313 districts of different provinces of the country during 2023.
 
In 2023, it is estimated that 1.1 million returnees from Afghanistan's neighboring countries and 0.7 million internally displaced persons will require serious health services.
 
In less than a year, a total of 121 employees of the partner institutions of this international organization also received training on information management, information collection, and providing services to the affected population at the national and subnational levels.
 
This report also emphasized that 21 provinces (Badakhshan, Baghlan, Balkh, Daikundi, Farah, Ghazni, Ghor, Helmand, Kabul, Kapisa, Khost, Laghman, Nimroz, Nuristan, Paktika, Paktia, Panjshir, Parwan, Sarpol, Maidan Wardak and Zabul) with less crises and the remaining 13 provinces with severe crises.
