Zelensky: We must prepare for severe Russian attacks and a harsh winter

In this regard, a spokesman of the Ukrainian army also announced that Russian attacks on the destroyed city of Avdiyoka in eastern Ukraine have decreased, but at the same time, Moscow is expected to increase these attacks again in the coming days.

 

On the other hand, the Military Intelligence Department of Ukraine announced that an explosion in the city of Melitopol in the south of the country, which is occupied by Russia, killed at least three Russian soldiers. According to Ukrainian officials, this attack was a revenge act by "resistance" groups.

 

In another part of his speech, Zelensky also said: "Russia is preparing, and here we must focus all our attention on defense." "In response to the terrorists, we must put on the agenda everything that can be done to get through the winter and improve the capabilities of our soldiers."

 

According to Euronews, he praised what he called the "heroic efforts" of the defense forces of Avdiyoka city and emphasized that these defenders have made many efforts to counter the Russian attacks.

 

Last winter, about 10 months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia carried out waves of attacks on infrastructure and power plants related to the country's energy network, causing blackouts in parts of the occupied territories. German Energy Minister German Galushchenko says that the country has enough energy to get through the winter, but at the same time, the question is how much the future attacks could affect these resources.

 

Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday that Russia has attacked Ukrainian infrastructure 60 times in recent weeks, a sign of a campaign of attacks in the coming months.

 

These events happen while the ground attacks of the Russian army continue. Bahmot, located north of Donetsk city, was captured by Russian forces in May after months of heavy fighting, but since then Ukrainian forces have been able to recapture nearby villages.
