Imran Khan was approved to run in the parliamentary elections
Pakistani media have reported, quoting the election officials of this country, that Imran Khan's eligibility to be a candidate in the National Assembly of this country has been confirmed.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Pakistani media reported that Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been confirmed to be a candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

This happens after Imran Khan's party known as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party announced that this former prime minister of Pakistan has been nominated for the seat in the parliamentary elections that will be held in February 2024.

According to ISNA and according to CJTN website, according to Pakistani media reports, Imran Khan has been nominated to win the representative seat of his hometown, Mianwali city in Punjab province, and his eligibility for this nomination has been confirmed.

Last August, the Islamabad city court sentenced Imran Khan to three years in prison and banned him from political activity for five years in connection with his case on the charge of fraud related to the sale of valuables belonging to the treasury of the government of Pakistan.

The Islamabad High Court suspended Imran Khan's three-year sentence, but he is still in prison for other crimes.

Also, the Supreme Court of Pakistan granted bail to Imran Khan eight days ago in the case related to the disclosure of state secrets, but he is still in prison facing other charges.

71-year-old Imran Khan has been involved in political and legal cases since he was removed from the post of prime minister in April 2022 and has not been seen in public since he was jailed for three years in August.

Earlier, it was speculated that Imran Khan might be disqualified from participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections due to his conviction for corruption, which the Supreme Court refused to suspend.
