President Karzai to attend regional conference in Tajikistan
Afghan president Hamid Karzai is due to visit Tajikistan to attend a regional economic conference and participate in global Nawruz celebrations.
A spokesman for president Karzai Aimal Faizi said, president Karzai will leave capital Kabul on Saturday evening Pajhwok reported.  

Mr. Faizi said, president Karzai will attend the global Nawruz celebrations conference besides participating in regional economical confernece.

Tajikistan officials earlier announced to celebrate Nawruz ceremony in the presence of leaders from persian speaking nations.

The event will include cultural and arts exhibitions at the Nawruzgah ground in the city of Khejend and will be attended by the president of Tajikistan Imam Ali Rakhmanov, Afghan president Hamid Karzai and Iranian president Mahmood Ahmadinejad.

The global Nawruz celebrations was held at Tehran capital of Iran for two consecutive years after the United Nations approved Nawruz celebrations a global ceremony two years back. This is the first time that Global Nawruz celebration is going to be held in Tajikistan.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai is due to meet with the leaders of the Iran and Tajikistan. The regional economical conference is also going to be held between the three nations and in the presence of president of Pakistan.

Delegations from 40 countries are expected to pariticipate in the conference.
