An unknown individual on Tuesday attacked Wahdat Daily News Agency in capital Kabul.
A representative of the Wahdat News Agency said the operation manager of the Wahdat News Agency Mohammad Hussain Hakimi was beaten by the assailant man after he entered his office.
Mr. Hakimi said he was continuously being threatened by an unknown individual via tephone calls and accused Wahdat Daily News Agency for defending strategic cooperation agreement between Afghanistan and United States of America.
The assailant individual also told Mohammad Hussain Hakimi that the strategic pact between Afghanistan and United States is not in the interest of the Afghan nation.
Wahdat Daily News Agency belongs to Hezb-e-Wahdat Islami of Afghaistan (National Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan) under the leadership of Mohammad Mohaqiq.
Mohammad Mohaqiq is an Afghan parliament member and a member of the main anti-government national coalition.
According to reports Mohammad Hussain Hakimi is currently under treatment at Estiqlal hospital in western Kabul.
Journalists in Afghanistan work under extremely difficult circumstances and routinely face violence, threats, and intimidation that prevent them from carrying out their work. While many incidents go unreported.
A report published by Nye Media Watch shows that 80 percent of violent cases against journalists including murder, injury, beating and threatening have been recorded in 2011, while it was 58 cases in 2010.
