NATO helicopter makes hard landing in E. Afghanistan
A helicopter with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) made a hard landing in eastern Afghan region on Thursday with no reported casualties, the military alliance said in a press release.
However, the release did not provide more details, only saying "ISAF is still in the process of assessing the circumstances to determine more facts; however, initial reporting indicates that there was no enemy activity in the area Xinhua reported.

"All crew members have been recovered with no reported fatalities and the site of the incident is secure," the press release said.

Taliban insurgents, whose regime was toppled in a U.S.-led incursion in late 2001, have intensified activities recently as spring and summer, known as "fighting season" draw near in the militancy-hit country.

The militant group claimed the responsibility for three suicide bombings that rocked western Herat and southern Helmand provinces on Tuesday leaving 22 people including 10 policemen dead and more than 60 others injured.
