Drug lab destroy in Bamyan
Afghan police destroyed a drug processing lab and arrested one suspect in Bamyan.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Afghan counter-narcotics police destroyed a drug processing lab and arrested one suspect in Afghanistan's central Bamyan province, said a statement of provincial counter-narcotics police released on Saturday.

"Acting on tip-off, the units of counter-narcotics police launched an operation in Shibarto area of the provincial capital Bamyan city in the wee hours of Friday, destroyed the lab and arrested one person from the site," the statement said.

The police had also uncovered a huge quantity of materials used in manufacturing heroin from the site of the operation, the statement asserted.

Afghan authorities have intensified crackdown on illicit drugs and those involved in the business as security personnel have arrested more than a dozen alleged drug smugglers over the past couple of weeks elsewhere in the war-ravaged country.

The supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate-run caretaker administration Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada in a decree issued in April banned poppy cultivation and its processing and since then Afghan security forces have intensified operations against illicit drugs.
