Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, met with the President of Iran, Ayatollah Raisi, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of this organization. The issues related to Afghanistan and Yemen have been one of the focal points of the dialogue between the two sides.
According to the spokesperson of the United Nations, Guterres and Raisi have also discussed the JCPOA agreement and regional relations.
Referring to the concern of the countries regarding the political and social future of Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria, as well as separatism in Africa in the shadow of the avarice and power-seeking of the authoritarian regime, the President of Iran reminded the important role of the United Nations in preventing the oppression of the people of these countries.
Stating that the foundation of the Islamic Republic of Iran is cooperation with the United Nations, Raisi emphasized Iran's readiness to participate in expanding peace and security in the world and preventing oppression of nations.
World leaders have gone to New York to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly. This meeting will start today (Tuesday, September 19, 2023).
Antonio Guterres said earlier that the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan are the focus of all concerns and this issue will be on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly.
