Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Afghanistan Railway Administration has announced in a tweet that the joint delegation of the Afghanistan Railway Administration and the Iranian Consortium for the Development of Afghan Railways visited various sections of the Khaf-Herat railway, including the Ghorian and Roznak stations, this morning.
Officials of the country's railway administration have officially handed over the Ghorian station with all the equipment in it to the Iranian side in the presence of technical teams, so that the Iranian side can activate its technical offices and complete the remaining deficiencies of this railway line.
This department added that during the visit of the two sides to the railway line, the Iranian side has made a written commitment to prepare the Khawaf-Herat railway line for operation with the help of the Afghanistan Railway Department, on 1402 AH.
Also, the Afghanistan Railway Administration says that it is trying to provide all the necessary facilities before the start of the transfer of goods from Khawaf-Herat railway at Roznak station.
According to the line of the Railway Administration, currently, the activity location has been determined for most of the port authorities such as the Oil and Gas Company, the National Standard Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, Unloading and Loading, the Afghan Post and the Ministry of Transportation, and efforts are being made to ensure that within the next few days, all Port authorities should be activated.
I have to say; With the fall of the previous government of Afghanistan, the process of rebuilding the third section of the Khaf-Herat railway line was delayed, but with the trip of a delegation from the Islamic Emirate to Tehran in the month of Gemini of the current solar year to talk with Iranian officials, the work of repairing the railway line was resumed.
Khawaf-Herat railway is supposed to transport 6 million tons of cargo and 1 million passengers annually, and not only strengthens Afghanistan's trade with Iran, but is also very important for other countries in the region, including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China and India.
The railway line is a key part of the $2 billion Five-Country Rail Corridor (FNRC) project. The five-nation railway corridor project envisages the construction of a railway line passing through the countries of China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran, which will continue to reach Turkey. This railway will connect the mentioned countries not only to each other but also to Europe.
Trade between Herat and Khawaf can turn Herat into a commercial hub, and if the 5-country rail corridor project is used, Herat will become Iran's gateway to Central Asia or Central Asia's gateway to Iran.
