Congo hemorrhagic fever is a deadly viral disease that is transmitted to humans through the bite of ticks and then to humans through contact.
Faridullah Omari, a specialist trainer at the Kabul Infectious Disease Hospital, mentions high fever, headache, muscle pain, neck stiffness, back pain, red eyes and depression among the symptoms of Congo fever.
He adds: "People who have wounds on their bodies should not approach slaughterhouses; "Don't touch animals without gloves and also try to use high heat when cooking animal meat."
Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock started a campaign to disinfect animals in animal markets in Kabul to prevent the spread of Congo fever.
