Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: In a situation where tensions between the West and Moscow continue over Ukraine, a deadly attack on Russian forces in the border region with Georgia has made news.
Russian state media reported that a number of "militants" attacked government forces in the Republic of Karachay and Cherkessia, killing two government forces and injuring four others.
Karachay and Cherkessia share a border with Georgia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia.
The Ministry of Interior of Russia announced in this republic that this attack was carried out on a traffic police station.
Russian officials reported that the security forces were able to kill five of the attackers.
It is said that the attackers first threw explosives at the police officers and then started shooting with automatic weapons.
Officials announced the beginning of the investigation into this attack, but have not yet commented on the perpetrators.
